Blurb (from Goodreads):

As President and CEO of Boyfriend Whisperer Enterprises, Lexi Malloy is Grand View High School’s undercover Cupid. One problem: She’s stuck in the friend zone with her own dream crush, Chris Broder. She and Chris have been best friends since the third grade, and he doesn’t even seem to realize she’s a member of the opposite sex.

When pretty, flirty cheerleader Lindsay LaRouche hires Lexi to whisper Chris, she has to decide whether to place her commitment to her company—and Chris’s happiness—before her own heart’s desires.

My Thoughts

This book was definitely a cute read! It was addictive and I easily finished it in two sittings.

Lexi Malloy is the creator of the Boyfriend Whisperer where she helps those who comes to her to achieve the guy or girl of their dreams by “whispering.” She has managed to stay anonymous and continue her work as a cupid. When Lindsay, the popular cheerleader of their school comes to her stating she wants Chris, her best friend and long-time crush as her boyfriend, what would Lexi ultimately do?

The Boyfriend Whisperer was a fun read. I enjoyed the plot and how it was executed. Lexi had a crush on her best friend Chris for the longest time but she hadn’t been able to work on her feelings because she thought Chris just doesn’t see her as a girl. But anonymously she is pretty successful as the Boyfriend Whisperer, where she helps the people who come to her to get out from the friend zone. Though some of Lexi’s decisions were pretty stupid but I could understand a teeny-tiny part of where that was coming from.

Lexi was an interesting character. Whereas she excelled as a soccer player, she didn’t want the sport to rule over her life, she wanted something different. And I enjoyed the aspect of whispering that she did in order to acquire information to help her clients, some turned out to be pretty fun. But one thing that I reaaaally disliked was that she was able to keep aside the fact that one of the guys already had a girlfriend and she was ready to break them up for her client who had a crush on the same guy. This was the only fact that didn’t stick well with me but I have to say, she got the necessary punishment for that.

The plot turned out a little different than I expected but I liked it nonetheless. Chris was a sweet and understanding guy and I wish we got to see more of him. Although the romance was really less, I liked the chemistry between Chris and Lexi.

Overall, The Boyfriend Whisperer was a good read. I enjoyed the plot and the characters. The writing was smooth and easy to read. The pace was even throughout the book. I definitely look forward to reading more by this author.
