There are some books that are just perfect for you. The Replacement Crush was that for me! I loved every single thing about this book and I enjoyed every freaking moment of it.
Vivian or Viv is a hopeless romantic but after she gets rejected by her crush, she decides to take a logical approach towards love so that her heart would be safe this time. She makes a list of potential targets despite the reluctance of her best friends. But she can’t get Dallas, the new guy in town and the McNerd as her friends call him, out of her mind despite the fact that he’s not on the list. When they start working together, Viv can’t deny the attraction between them but will she ever let anything happen between them or will she let her fear hold her back?
The plot was absolutely fantastic! I enjoyed it sooo much! There were so many factors in this book that I absolutely adored. I loved how the story was executed, in a neat and perfect way. Viv’s heart is crushed after she gets rejected by her crush so she forms a plan for the replacement crush and makes a list of targets. Despite the warning from her best friends that love can’t be strategized, she decides to move forward with her plan. In comes Dallas, the new guy in their school who also starts working in her mom’s bookstore to make a database. I loved the chemistry and the angst between Dallas and Viv! It was sooo freaking perfect! Both were so stubborn, everybody could see it except these two!
I loved with all the characters in this book. Viv was a great character, I could understand her insecurities and I loved to see her growing more as a person throughout the book. Especially in the end, the way she rounded things up, was hilariously epic! I loved Dallas, he was soo swoony! C’mon who doesn’t want a hot McNerd in their life! He was caring and I loved how he challenged Viv. Jaz and Amy were the perfect best friends, I loved Viv’s bond with them. It was seriously so good. I also adored her relationship with her mom, they were more like friends and I loved how they understood each other.
Overall, The Replacement Crush was a greeeeat read! I loved the plot and the characters and I was hooked from the very first page. The romance between Dallas and Viv was so sweet, I loved how their relationship proceeded. The writing was beautiful and smooth and the pace was even throughout the book. I seriously enjoyed this book sooo much! I can’t wait to read more by this author.
Lisa Brown Roberts still hasn’t recovered from the teenage trauma of nearly tweezing off both eyebrows and having to pencil them in for an entire school year. This and other angst-filled memories inspire her to write YA books about navigating life’s painful and funny dramas, and falling in love along the way.
Her almost forever home is Colorado, though she occasionally pines for the days when she lived within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean. Her house is full of books, boys, four-legged prima donnas, and lots of laughter.
