Blurb (from Goodreads):

Truth or Dare was never this much fun…

Annie McFarland is sick of being a shy nobody. A session at summer camp seems like the perfect opportunity to reinvent herself—gain some confidence, kiss a boy, be whoever she wants to be. A few days in, she’s already set her sights on über-hottie Kyle. Too bad her fear of water keeps her away from the lake, where Kyle is always hanging out.

Jacob Fazio is at Camp Pine Ridge after one too many screw-ups. Junior counseling seems like punishment enough, but the rigid no-fraternizing-with-campers rules harsh his chill. When a night of Truth or Dare gets him roped into teaching Annie how to swim, she begs him to also teach her how to snag Kyle.

Late-night swim sessions turn into late-night kissing sessions…but there’s more on the line than just their hearts. If they get caught, Jake’s headed straight to juvie, but Annie’s more than ready to dare him to reveal the truth.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains references to drinking, sexual situations, adult language, and an intense bad boy hero who will melt your heart.

USEEEEEEEEE

This book was just soo fun! I loved it to bits! I am soo glad this book lived up to my expectations!

It’s the first time Annie is going to a summer camp where she expects to come out of her shell. There she crushes on the bad boy of the camp, Kyle. But he always seems to hang out by the lake and Annie has an aversion to water due to a childhood incident. Jacob has been assigned counselor duty as a punishment for a crime by his dad. Annie somehow manages to make him agree to teach him how to swim but the more they spend time together, the more thing heats up between them and Annie becomes confused about her feelings. But Jacob is not allowed to fraternize with campers. Is there anything possible between them?

This book was a fun and light-hearted read! The plot was quite enjoyable. Annie is an introvert but she decides to change that fact about her by going to the summer camp. There she meets Kyle and she instantly crushes on him but she doesn’t have the courage to do anything about it. He mostly hangs out by the lake so she guilt trips and dares Jacob, the junior counselor into making her learn swimming. I loved how the relationship between Jacob and Annie developed, it was slow and sweet!

I loved all the characters in the book! Annie was such a sweet character. She was shy at first but I loved how she tried doing things outside her comfort zone. It was fun to read about. I absolutely loved Jacob. He spiraled out of control after his mom’s death but with Annie he seemed to be getting back into his track. I loved the forbidden touch in their relationship but I also understood Annie’s point of view when she wanted to tell everyone. At first, I was very angry about how Jacob’s dad treated him but during the end I simply loved how he understood both Annie and Jacob’s relationship. I loved the ending, especially how Jacob fought back for Annie, it was just sooo sweet!

Overall, Daring the Bad Boy was a fantastic read! I enjoyed it from the very beginning, the writing was smooth and the pace was even throughout the book. The romance between Annie and Jacob was sweet and I loved the chemistry between them. I would definitely be looking forward to read more works by this author.

  1. I adore Monica Murphy and didn’t realize this book was out there! Normally I avoid YA contemporary but this sounds so, so promising! The whole “help me snag this guy” premise is one of my favourites! Doesn’t hurt that it’s written by Murphy either 😛
