This book was as addicting as the previous one. Honestly, I loved this series. You can read my review of book 1, In the After, here.
*A little spoilery if you haven’t read book 1 of this series.*
Beneath the Void picks up where book 1 left off. Sadie is still picking up the pieces of the aftermath of the shooting that left her life upside down. Not only she has to face the wrath of others for not standing up to the bullying but there’s a new threat looming over her head. Will she be able to save herself this time?
I liked how the plot was executed in this book. Sadie’s life is a mess as her PTSD is getting out of control and she’s getting more and more hate messages from various other people and her best friend Jenna is still recovering after she got injured in the shooting. Only Hayden has her back. I liked how the author handled the storyline. It’s so surprising that victims of bullying becomes bully themselves without even realizing it. And that’s what exactly happened here. I was so enraged because only Sadie had to handle this shit when nobody said one word to Britt. Guess the world’s unfair this way but if only everyone in the town would have come together they could have ended the bullying, or at least some action would have been taken against it.
Sadie was in a worse condition than before but I was glad when she decided to take help. But she should have told someone about the creepy messages she was receiving, that someone was stalking her. I loved Hayden as usual. He was so gentle and caring and a constant support to Sadie. And I didn’t even think about the plot twist involving him but I liked how it took its turn. But Britt… Oh my God! I sooo wish I could strangle her myself, she just pretended to be a whole new person while she was planning a whole new scheme. I just hate her! Nonetheless, I loved how Sadie pushed herself and became a better person, a stronger one. I definitely would have liked to see Britt’s downfall but I was satisfied the way this book ended.
Overall, Beneath the Void was a great read. The plot was interesting and I liked the character growth. I loved the romance between Sadie and Hayden. The writing was smooth and easy to read and the pace was even throughout the book.
Elisa Dane loves books, chocolate, reality television, her family, and All Star Cheerleading. Not necessarily in that order! She writes contemporary YA romance with cheerleaders. Yep. She writes what she knows, and it’s her hope that her stories will not only take you on a romantic journey that will warm your heart, but that you’ll find a new respect for the sport of All Star Cheerleading you may not have had before. She’s represented by Brittany Booker of the Booker/Albert Agency, and has published a NA paranormal series under her real name, Lisa Sanchez.
