Blurb (from Goodreads):

Take a chance and change your life…

College was supposed to be where Hannah’s hard work paid off, but the major in honors chemistry she’s been working towards since childhood is slipping away. Worse, she’s not sure she wants it anymore. Salvation comes from an unlikely place—a used bookstore and Ben, the passionate college senior who works there.

Ben’s trapped in a life mapped out for him. Trapped in a future career as a lawyer to make his father happy. Trapped pursuing a girl he doesn’t even like because she fits into a world he doesn’t want, but can’t escape. But then he meets Hannah. And for the first time, he knows what it means to truly want something.

So he gives in to being her friend. Then to wanting her. Then to kissing her. And within the freedom of his impulsivity, both of their carefully planned lives begin to fall apart…

This book was SO, SO GOOD! I immensely enjoyed every single thing in this book, the plot was nice, the characters were great, they had their flaws but they knew how to learn from it. The romance was sizzling hot! And there were realistic themes that were dealt in this novel that made it much more intriguing.

Summary-

Hannah has been studying hard since her childhood to study honours in Chemistry because she wants to become a drug researcher like her father and help him create the medicine for cancer that took her mom when she was a kid. But when she starts her college she realises chemistry’s not her thing, not for the long run. She meets Ben, a senior who works at a used bookstore. They slowly begin connect through books that Ben chooses out for her because she was a non-reader till now. Each book changes her a bit by bit as she discovers a whole new world and they both begin to fall for each other. Ben loves to study English Literature and wants to persue his career further in this line but his father wants him to become a lawyer. When they finally stand upto their choices, will fate be with them or will they be thrown into the whirlwind?

Plot-

The plot is really nice, it was pretty realistic which made me definitely like it. It’s not simply a romance novel but far more than that, it’s about life and making the right decesions and following your heart. I loved how they connected through books and also how they slowly realised what was right for them and finally finding the courage to face it. I loved the relationship between Hannah and Ben. They were the perfect example of how two people truly get each other. They developed and matured throughout the novel along with their relationship. The chemistry between them was crackling, I loved the romance between these two, I couldn’t get enough and still wanted more.

Characters-

I fell in love with all the characters. Hannah was definitely a character I loved. She was strong, sensible though a little childish at times, she knew what she wanted. Though it did take her a lot of time and courage for to finally face her father about her career but she finally did it. I could connect with her on a personal level because I went through something very similar and just like my parents, her father accepted her decesion as well. Ben was a total nerd and passionate about books, he was sweet and caring. He did a lot of stupid mistakes at first, but he quickly learned from his mistakes and gave his best to make up for it. The decision about his career was more tough to make because his father threatened to disown him. But I loved when he stood up for himself and decided to give his dreams a go.

I loved the other characters as well. Hannah’s roommate, Jasmine was sweet, caring and a loyal friend. I even liked his boyfriend who treated Hannah like his sister. I also loved Adele and her relationship with Hannah and Ben. I even liked Alex, I was only angry with her for about 30 seconds but then she went back into being the awsome person she is. They all, formed a big happy family. That scene when everybody stood up for Ben in the bookstore infront of his father was EPIC! It was literally the best scene.

Writing style-

The writing was simple and beautiful. It was very easy to fall into the rhythm of this book and I loved it from the very first page. I loved the humour and the tone of this book. It definitely gives a positive message. The pace was even throughout the book, it was neither too slow fast nor too fast. I definitely enjoyed the writing, I didn’t feel bored for even a second, I easily finished it in one sitting, this book was throughly entertaining.

Overall-

This Book Will Change Your Life is a book I enjoyed very much, I was glued to this book from the very first page. The plot was really nice with a touch of realistic essence. The characters had their fair share of faults but they learned from their mistakes. I enjoyed the sizzling hot romance between Hannah and Ben and I enjoyed the rest of the characters as well. The writing was smooth and beautiful and the pace was even throughout the book. This book was very addicting, I couldn’t stop for a second and finished it at one go. Overall, I loved this book very much, it had everything a NA book has with so much more.

Recommend it?

Definitely yes if you like NA books with great characters, sizzling romance with a realist plot.
