Blurb (from Goodreads):
When Delaney Collins’s fail-proof dating system fails completely, her best friends Summer and Josie take absolute control of her dating life through The Dating Intervention. Although Delaney’s intuition is always right on when it comes to men, she never listens to it. If she doesn’t start now—with her friends’ help—she’s in danger of ending up alone and lonely in a sea of men with stained neckties and cumbersome baggage.
The Dating Intervention is a funny and humorous story. Although I didn’t exactly fall in love with it but I liked it a lot, specially the friendship aspect of this book which was really good.
The story is about a woman named Delaney who is in her thirties and is still single. She has made a “fail-proof” system of dating so that if it doesn’t work out with one guy, she can always fall back on another. But she keeps choosing the wrong guys which never work out for her. Finally her best friends Summer and Josie, having their best interest in heart decide to stop all this and find her a loving and caring life partner. For this, they start a scheme called “The Dating Intervention” where all the decisions of her dating life would be taken by her two best friends. Reluctant at first she finally agrees and it takes her into a whirlwind journey where she finally meets her match.
The plot was good. It was something new to read about. Delaney was a bartender and she loved her job although she graduated with a veterinary degree. By the push from her friends she finally agreed to look for a veterinary job and after a lot of rejection she finally got one. Her friends fully taok over her dating life, they choose a few guys from dating sites with whom Delaney was allowed to go on a date but she was never allowed to cross the rules. Finally she meets Jake on one of her dates and she begins to take genuine interest in him. Although things didn’t go as swiftly planned but I loved how everything was resolved neatly at the end.
The characters were pretty awsome, specially Josie and Summer. They were really concerned about Delaney because she kept choosing the same kind of loser guys. I loved how they did everything for Delaney’s benefit but sometimes it seemed they crossed the line and intruded in her privacy too much but well Delaney never seemed to mind much although it annoyed the hell out of her. Delaney was an okay character. I didn’t quite love her. She kept repeating her mistakes when it was blatantly obvious and she was also sometimes winy. She would have definitely ended up alone if her friends weren’t there for her. Nonetheless I specially loved the bond between these three, they were best friends since high school and they have been in each other’s life since then. The main love interest Jake is apparently gorgeous but I would have loved if there a few more interactions between these two, the romance was good but I wished it was much more.
The writing was good and easy to read. Though sometimes I felt the book was too long, but nonetheless it was enjoyable. It was engaging and interesting.
Overall, the plot was good, the characters differed, some I loved and some not so much. And the writing was simple and easy. The Dating Intervention was definitely a fun and enjoyable read.
Yes, if you like adult novels with friendship and humour and less romance.
